After last year, which was a year of great change, our goal this year has been to change as little as possible, in hopes of seeing the fruits of our 2012-2013 labor. As you might recall, during 2012-2013, the GATE department went through many significant changes, including staff and testing procedures.
Even without all the changes, 2013-2014 has already proven to be a busy and exciting school year for the GATE department. We have so many events and happenings on the horizon! We recently hosted CELEBRATE GATE!, the 6th annual Scary Story Contest, as well the Noetic Learning Math Contest with many of our elementary aged students.
Additionally, the CCHS GATE College Field Trip is just around the corner, as are the spelling bees and science fairs at the elementary level. Another round of SENG (Social Emotional Needs of the Gifted) book study will kick off in January of 2014, and our parent advisory group (PAGE) has already begun meeting for the year.
Many great things are going on in our G/T classrooms, including engineering lessons, catapult construction, indepent projects, the ABCs of Gifted Learning, and an ongoing teaming with the CCHS Design and Drafting program for a few of our students.
Additionally, GATE has had many celebrations this fall, making 2013-2014 very special for all of us involved.
Sincerely, Adam Hartman
