McKinley Elementary School is participating with the Task Force Wednesdays. See attached document for these planned delayed start Wednesdays. This time will allow staff to receive direct professional development throughout the year to ensure that your child is receiving the best instruction every day. Breakfast will be served on these dates. Transportation will pick students up two hours later than normal transportation days and supervision will begin at school at 10:00 a.m. Kidz Klub will also be available for supervision at their cost. Please contact CC Parks and Rec for more information.
Birds of Prey
This week McKinley 1st Graders started their animal classification unit by studying birds of prey. They researched information and dissected owl pellets to learn about sorting and classifying by different characteristics.
Dr. Ashby, a local optometrist, came to present to 3rd and 1st grade MCKINLEY students about eye health. Students passed around a model of an eye and real cow eyeball to examine. Thank you Dr. Ashby!

A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the classroom response to an incident at school. Weather events, fire, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by students, teachers, staff and administration. Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on these four actions: Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter.
