McKinley Elementary School is dedicated to academic, social, and personal growth by empowering self-motivated, kind, respectful, and confident students in a safe environment rich in family traditions.
The McKinley Student Council hosted an event to collect socks for those in need as we enter into the colder months. "Socktober" was a huge success and our school collected over 800 pairs of socks to donate back to the community!
On November 19th, the members of the McKinley StuCo delivered socks to the Manna House, Loaves and Fishes, Skyline Ridge Nursing Home, and Star Point. Click on picture for photo album.
Book-It Principal Challenge
This challenge asked principals everywhere to become a shinning example for literacy by chosing one day during the National Young Readers Week to read their heart out all day long! Mrs. Manning did just that- enthusiastically read to our McKinley students ALL DAY LONG!
Jacob Jones, a community volunteer from Cañon Bank, has been coming in for the last couple of weeks to teach McKinley 1st graders about economics, needs and wants, communities, jobs, maps, and goods and services. The students loved having a community member teach them!
McKinley Elementary School is participating with the Task Force Wednesdays. See attached document for these planned delayed start Wednesdays. This time will allow staff to receive direct professional development throughout the year to ensure that your child is receiving the best instruction every day. Breakfast will be served on these dates. Transportation will pick students up two hours later than normal transportation days and supervision will begin at school at 10:00 a.m. Kidz Klub will also be available for supervision at their cost. Please contact CC Parks and Rec for more information.

A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the classroom response to an incident at school. Weather events, fire, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by students, teachers, staff and administration. Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on these four actions: Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter.
