Thank you Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Pollart for your faithful service and dedication to teaching our McKinley students for so many years! You both will be missed by all of us!
McKinley again won 1st place for school floats in the 2014 Cañon City Blossom Parade! A huge thank you to Jerry and Sharon Linam for creating our float!
McKinley Elementary PTO treated some fourth and fifth grade students to zip-line with Royal Gorge Zip-Line Tours on April 9th. Students had to have 15 Accelerated Reader points to be eligible for the field trip. We all had so much fun and many fears were conquered! We added a new webpage to display student writings and artwork. Click on picture to check it out and sign the guest book.

A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the classroom response to an incident at school. Weather events, fire, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by students, teachers, staff and administration.
Our school is expanding the safety program to include the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The SRP is based on these four actions: Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter.
