Regional Science Fair 2008

Sixth Southern Colorado Regional Science Fair
February 28-29, 2008
The purpose of a science fair project is to encourage learning and creativity in young adults. Students in the sixth through eight grade compete in the junior division and the upper grades in the senior division. Students can compete in one of the fourteen science categories. Senior division participants have the opportunity to receive a college scholarship.
Who: Students from Fremont, or Pueblo County may enter, grades 6-12.
Teams may have up to three members.
What: Southern Colorado Regional Science Fair
When: Thursday Afternoon Feb. 28: Judging (Set up time and judging TBA.)
Friday Evening, Feb. 29 : Awards Ceremony

Requirements:
· In order to participate students reguired to complete the correct forms. Each student, individual, or team member must complete the Check List for Adult Sponsor Form, Research Plan and Attachment (1A)), Approval Form (1B), and after experimentation, the Abstract. Forms must be completed prior to experimentation. Electronic copies of forms are available at www.sciserv.org/isef
· Team projects compete in a separate “team” category. There are separate forms for team projects.
· All Junior and Senior division participants are required to follow the Intel/ISEF rules for research and display and safety regulations.

· Please note that Human Subject projects require Human Subjects Form (4) and this needs to be completed prior to experimentation. This form needs to be signed by the school’s science institutional review committee (IRB). Every school must appoint an IRB.Due to the fact that Human Subject projects require surveys, students not completing this form may not be considered to participate in the regional fair.
All forms are to be reviewed by February 4, 2008 in order to participate in the regional fair. There is a registration fee of $10 for each participant. Each team member pays the ten dollar fee.
Many awards and local scholarships are given and an opportunity to advance to the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair held in April.
