4th-8th Grade Students to Receive Growth and Development Education

Beginning in December, students in 4th-8th Grade will receive Growth & Development Education through a curriculum called the 3R's (Rights, Respect, and Responsibility).

Depending on your child's grade level, topics may include:

  • Personal safety
  • Healthy relationships
  • Decision making
  • Puberty
  • Human Reproduction & Childbirth
  • Abstinence
  • Contraception and Pregnancy Prevention
  • HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

The curriculum will be delivered by our School Health Professional who is a registered nurse. Parents/guardians have the option of excluding their child from any portion of Growth and Development instruction if it is in conflict with conscience, moral, or religious beliefs. If this is the case with your child, please complete an opt-out form and send it back to school with your child within the time frame specified by the school. Students who are excused will be assigned an alternative learning opportunity during the applicable time.
