CCHS Capstone Scholarship Winners

CCHS Capstone Scholarship Winners

Students have been working on their Capstone projects since the first day they stepped into Canon City High School. These are culminating projects meant to show the traits and skills that students have learned over their high school career. The best of these projects went head to head in the 3rd annual Capstone Scholarship Competition. Out of 17 students in the final round, four went home with a prize. Connor McCardell won 4th place with a scholarship of $1,000 to Pueblo Community College, Eden Grimes won 3rd place with a scholarship of $2,000, Eliana Kopunec and Nathan Sanders won 2nd place with a prize of $3,000 and Chloe Martin won first place with a grand prize of $4,000. Martin’s project was designing and creating a transformation dress for the school’s performance of Cinderella. I sat down with Martin to talk about the Capstone process, and what she learned and will take with her in the future. “I’m going into costume design for college and my career, so what I did with my Capstone I will hopefully be doing every day.” Canon City High School students are taking full advantage of the opportunities that the Capstone process provides and creating amazing products and events that impact the community in a positive way. Congratulations to the class of 2023 for completing their Capstone, and congratulations to the winners of the Scholarship Competition.
