Welcome back everyone! It’s been quite the summer around here. When you return to Harrison School this August, you’ll see several new faces greeting you. Dr. Darren Barkett (that’s me!) is joining us as our new principal. He is a Salida High School graduate who has just returned to southern Colorado after working in education in North Carolina for 25 years. You’ll see Dr. Barkett and his wife Michele in and around Canon City, hiking, fishing, and walking their dog. You might even see Dr. Barkett on the disc golf course here at Harrison!
Lacey Ledoux is joining us as our newest assistant principal. She has been part of Canon City Schools for 20 years. She has worked as a classroom teacher, gifted and talented specialist and literacy coach. Additionally, she has supported the district’s curriculum, assessment and instruction department. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Thom and daughters, Sophie and Penelope. She also enjoys coaching her daughters’ club soccer team and supporting them in their other activities.
Sheryl Wiseman has thankfully chosen to continue on with us here at Harrison as our veteran assistant principal. She has been busy this summer at Circus Camp, learning how to walk the tightrope and fly on the trapeze. You should definitely ask her about this!
We are all so excited to welcome you back into our building! It’s going to be a great school year. Just a reminder… If you have any concerns or questions, it’s always best to approach your child’s teacher first. That being said, you are always welcome to stop by Harrison and say hello!
