Principal's Message

Welcome to the 23/24 school year at Lincoln School of Science & Technology!

Mr. Olguin

This marks my fifth year as the leader of this fantastic school community.  My wife and I are both products of the Cañon City School District and are proud to call Cañon our home.  Our daughter will be in 4th grade at Lincoln this year, while our son will move on to middle school.  I’m confident the education he received from the Lincoln staff has more than prepared him for the challenges he’ll face in sixth grade this coming year.

One exciting change to our school this year is the addition of a special new position.  Mrs. Christina Braiden will join me to form the administrative team for the school as our Dean of Students and Literacy Coach.  Along with supporting me with various administrative tasks, she and I will work together to maintain and build on an already-successful culture at Lincoln.  We’ll continue our commitment to open and transparent communication with parents and a restorative approach when issues with student behavior arise.  Mrs. Braiden will also support our classroom teachers this year as we implement a new language arts curriculum.  The Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) Program has shown promise in engaging students in the lessons, but is a big transition from our previous programming.  As our Literacy Coach, Mrs. Braiden will be right there to ensure teachers have what they need.

I look forward to working with our families this year to help your children get the most of their time at Lincoln.  Let’s collaborate to ensure your child is gaining all the academic and social skills necessary for their age and grade.  I implore families to get involved and ask questions.  We continue to enjoy a great community of families and welcome an open and transparent partnership with you.

Please take the time to read through the entire handbook.  Much time has been spent making sure it is up-to-date and relevant for our students and their families.  Also make sure you stay current with school news on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.  Feel free to reach out to me any time!

Sincerely,
Garrett Olguin, Principal
