Lincoln School of Science & Technology
Welcome to the 2020/21 school year!
My name is Garrett Olguin. It is truly an honor to serve as Lincoln’s principal. Please allow me to introduce myself. My wife and I are proud to call Cañon City home, along with our son and daughter. They both attend Lincoln with me. This is my 16th year in education. Originally from Cañon City, I graduated from Cañon City High School. I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to give back to the school district and community that I grew up in!
The staff and I are proud to share our vision grounded in a growth mindset to empower our students to reach their social-emotional and academic potential. Our mission is to develop life-long learners who are prepared for an ever changing world. We work to seek solutions together in a STEM-focused environment with the tenacity to meet any challenge while having civility for one another.
At Lincoln, we blend traditional methods of learning with 21st century skills. Each student has a Chromebook and each classroom has a Clevertouch interactive white board. We focus first on teaching our youngest students foundational concepts in literacy and math, while still providing opportunities to explore science and technology. As students move through their years at Lincoln, their experiences with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics will become more focused. Our curriculum also includes Social Studies, PE, Music, and Art.
I am so excited for this school year and can’t wait to see all of our students and families in person again. I also look forward to meeting those of you that are new to the Lincoln community. You are going to find that our school is a very special place that is student-centered above all else. Please keep up to date with school news on our Facebook page and our YouTube channel. Feel free to reach out to me anytime as well.
