Social Emotional Resources for Students and Parents

At Cañon City High School, meeting the social-emotional needs of ALL students is paramount!

We believe in promoting social and emotional development which involves teaching and modeling these skills along with giving students opportunities to apply these skills in various situations. Our School Board has adopted the following core beliefs:

  1. We meet the social-emotional needs of all students, putting Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs before Bloom's Taxonomy.
  2. We believe learning growth matters most, requires risk-taking, and the work we do in our schools has the greatest impact on this.
  3. We're future-focused, believing the development of certain traits and skills will best prepare our students for ever-changing careers.
  4. We emphasize what is good for kids over the needs and comforts of adults.

The link below will take you to resources available through Cañon City School District to support these core beliefs for students' social-emotional needs. We recognize that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, parents may have children in the home of varying ages. Therefore, resources are included for parents who have students in any age group.
