About the Senior Army Instructor (SAI): Lieutenant Colonel (ret) Daniel K. Dorado assumed the SAI duties at Cañon City High School on 1 August 2022. LTC Dorado is from Mililani, O'ahu, Hawaii and served as the SAI at Kahuku High School on the North Shore of O'ahu from 2018-2022. While at Kahuku, he helped graduating seniors enrolled in JROTC to receive more than $30,000 for college, and has mentored cadets to pursue their post-secondary goals whether entering the work force, enlisting in the military, or earning ROTC scholarships or academy appointments to earn a bachelor’s degree and become military officers. LTC Dorado was a Military Police Officer and Middle East Foreign Area Officer (FAO) and entered the United States Army upon receiving his commission from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1997. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Arabic, Spanish and Systems Engineering from West Point and studied Arabic at Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan in 2004. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Arabic Language, Literature, Linguistics, and Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language from Georgetown University in 2005. His last assignments as a FAO took him to US embassies in Manama, Bahrain (2011-2014) and Cairo, Egypt (2014-2017) where he represented the Defense Intelligence Agency as the Chief of Attaché Operations and Army Attaché. LTC Dorado was selected for Senior Service College (Command and General Staff College) in November 2016 prior to retiring from the US Army on July 31, 2017. He received the Department of State’s Meritorious Honor Award from the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, an award normally reserved for Department of State employees, for his timely force protection advice to the ambassador. Prior to his current position, LTC Dorado worked as a Socio-Cultural Analyst supporting Special Operations Pacific Command (SOCPAC) initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.

About the Army Instructor (AI): Sergeant First Class (ret) Damon Grimshaw entered the U.S. Army October 10th, 2002 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He then attended Advanced Individual Training for the military occupational skill of Quarter Master and Chemical Repairer followed by Basic Airborne Course. Upon completion, he was assigned to 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Georgia. SFC Damon Grimshaw’s assignments include 173rd Airborne Brigade, 1st Ranger Battalion, National Training Center’s Operations Group, and his most recent assignment to Group Support Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group. SFC Grimshaw has served in every enlisted leadership position to include Team Leader, Squad Leader, Maintenance Control Supervisor, Operations NCOIC, and Platoon Sergeant. SFC Grimshaw’s combat tours include: two tours to Iraq and four tours to Afghanistan. SFC Grimshaw’s military education includes the Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Master leaders Course, U.S. Army Ranger Course, Basic Airborne Course, Jump Master Course, Pathfinder Course and Winter Mobility Instructor Course. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with on silver oak leaf cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Operation Inherent Resolve, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 2), NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge and the Drivers and Mechanics Badge.
