Special Services
Canon City Schools is committed to ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education that meets their individual needs. In accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Colorado Exceptional Children’s Educational Act (ECEA), CCS-RE1 provides special education services to eligible students ages 3 through 21 who have identified disabilities and require specially designed instruction to make meaningful educational progress.
What Is Special Education?
Special education is not a place—it is a set of services and supports designed to meet the unique learning needs of students with disabilities. Services are provided at no cost to parents and are individualized through an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
