Many new topics were discussed Monday at the Cañon City School Board meeting. The lead discussions were a donation to Cañon City Middle School, a music program for elementary schools, and the annual district report.
A donation of $1,000 was given to CCMS for its vocational department by Sharon Whitney. Whitney used the funds from her daughter’s memorial to donate. Her daughter was passionate about construction and had her own business building houses.
“If I can impact even one student in the way that vocational class impacted my daughter, then this donation is the perfect way to remember her,” Whitney said.
CCMS Principal Jesse Oliver then presented Whitney with a certificate of their appreciation and said her generous donation will go toward new tools for CCMS students in the new woodshop classroom.
