On Thursday, March 15, KKTV 11 News ran a story that has caused some parent concern regarding an alleged threat at McKinley Elementary earlier in the month. We are releasing this statement today to assure all parents that the safety of our students and staff is our #1 priority.

We take every report of a safety concern very seriously and act immediately to conduct a thorough investigation. The investigation for this incident involved engaging law enforcement, school administration, school staff and appropriate outside agencies to conduct a formal Threat Assessment on each student involved in the incident. After conducting the detailed and thorough assessments, it was determined that no guns were brought to campus and there was never a crediable threat to the school. We understand and appreciate that parents trust us with their children everyday and we will always make it our first priority thoroughly investigate any alleged threat to our schools
