USDA Food and Nutrition Services Recognition

Back in early August the Cañon City School District received notice it was being awarded USDA Food and Nutrition Services recognition in the Healthier US School Challenge: Smarter Lunchrooms awards program.

Back in early August the Cañon City School District received notice it was being awarded USDA Food and Nutrition Services recognition in the Healthier US School Challenge: Smarter Lunchrooms awards program.

Cañon City High School, CCMS, CES, Harrison K-8, Lincoln School of Science and Technology, McKinley Elementary, and Washington Elementary all received bronze recognition through this program for efforts related to improving health and wellness to impact student achievement.

As a result, each of these schools will receive a plaque, a banner, and a cash award.

On Monday evening the board of education honored staff embers involved int his effort during the kudos session.

We thank our fine nutrition services staff members, as well as our school level health and wellness committees for their efforts on this front.
