The Boys & Girls Club of Fremont County
The Boys & Girls Club of Fremont County provides an after-school program for youth ages 5-18.
The Boys & Girls Club of Fremont County is located in Canon City and is an after-school program for youth ages 5-17. There is an Elementary Club, as well as a Teen Club available to the youth of Fremont County. The Canon K-7 Clubhouse is open every day after school until 6:00pm for youth ages 5-12. It is located inside the Canon Exploratory School. The Teen Club is open every day after school until 6:00pm for youth ages 13-18. It is located at 129 N 4th Street in Canon City. After school transportation is available from most schools. While youth are at the Club, they engage in evidence-based programs focused three priority outcomes:
• Academic Success
• Good Character & Citizenship
• Healthy Lifestyles
The Boys & Girls Club mission is “to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.” The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fremont County achieves that mission by providing a safe and positive environment for youth to learn and grow. They also provide life-enhancing programs and character development experiences that focus on five core areas:
• Education & Career
• Leadership & Service
• Health & Wellness
• The Arts
• Sports & Recreation
Members also develop positive relationships with caring adult role models and perhaps most importantly, they have fun! The Club has a 1 to 15 staff to member ratio. The Club also serves a daily snack at all Clubs, plus breakfast and lunch at the Elementary Club on no-school Fridays.
