The Grounds and Maintenance Department has two main goals. The first is to provide an attractive, comfortable, and safe environment that promotes the educational process. These goals are reached through the year-round hard work and dedication of the ten people that make up the department.

Our maintenance department takes pride in and is responsible for the repair and upkeep of the district's 15 buildings, containing approximately 500,000 sq. ft., at ten locations throughout the district. They care for the structural and mechanical systems including plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical and life safety systems. In order to help the maintenance process, they do much more than corrective maintenance. There is an extensive preventive maintenance program. Through contact inspection and preventative work, the people of the department are able to prolong the use of equipment and avoid expensive replacements. Five individuals, through hard work and cooperation, accomplish all of this.

The operations of the grounds department are year-round, working outdoors through the hottest part of the summer and the coldest part of winter. The crew does everything from ice and snow removal to mowing the lawns and much more. They are responsible for the watering, mowing, aerating, fertilizing and weeding of 58 acres of irrigated fields and lawns. Their work goes far beyond just the maintenance of the lawns and fields. They line athletic fields, move furniture, set up for special outdoor events, take care of ornamental areas, build fences, and construct ball fields. This work supports the athletic and physical education programs of the district and adds to the aesthetic value of the facilities.
